Morawa International Meeting Center

Morawa International Meeting Center

One of the most important activities of the Foundation is running the International Meeting Center in Morawa, which has existed since 2002. For over a dozen years we have been organizing youth exchanges, mainly Polish-German, but for several years also trilateral - in partnership with Ukraine. We carry out many projects, especially regarding after-school exchanges, with our German partner Kindergarten und Bildungsstädte Hedwig e.V. from Berlin.

Our activities are guided by the following values: respect for culture and history, cultivation of Christian values, respect for human dignity, freedom and democracy, and awakening the attitude of responsibility towards future generations, as well as supporting the development and potential of individuals, building social and intercultural bonds

The idea of the House is to open up to the local community, to create a space for intercultural and intergenerational dialogue on current social problems - these include, among others activities to bring nations and generations closer, in particular with our neighbors.

Actions

In the last two years, together with the German partner Europa Direkt from Dresden and the French partner Ligue de l'enseignement du Cher, we have organized a series of trainings for animators of Polish-German-French youth exchange. We implement projects under the program "Keeping Memory", "Together we will achieve more" and other exchanges on the subject of diversity, ecology and artistic projects. Our substantive work is supported by volunteers from the European Solidarity Corps program. We have qualified staff who constantly improve their competences using, among others from courses and training organized by PNWM.

The Foundation has been awarded many times for its actions for understanding across divisions and European integration, in 1999 it received the PolCul Award, in 2002 the Polish-German Award for merits for good neighborliness and cooperation, and in 2015 the Silesian Cultural Award of the federal state Lower Saxony.

Apprentices and volunteers

Our facility regularly accepts apprentices and volunteers from Germany. During their stay, our helpers learn about the operating system of international meeting houses, exchanges and other projects; they visit and experience the area, go to meetings in other institutions, while learning about Polish culture and education.

In 2021, we hosted the intern Flora Sobotta from Dresden. The report on her stay is available at this link.

Stefan Strietzel

In 2022, Stefan Strietzel from Berlin came to us to work on the history of the Manor in Morawa.
